Cops nab motorcyclist for attacking lorry driver with helmet in Iskandar Putri


ISKANDAR PUTERI: The police are investigating a viral video in which a motorcyclist is seen attacking a lorry driver with a helmet.

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm Rahmat Ariffin said that the incident is believed to have happened at about 6.10am on Wednesday (May 10).

"The incident in the video is believed to have taken place at the Tanjung Kupang toll, heading towards Singapore. The incident is believed to have happened when the lorry driver chided the suspect for using the lorry lane.

"He then attacked the driver and later left the scene after being pulled by a woman, believed to be his wife," he said.

He said that the case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief, and added that the suspect could be jailed for a maximum of five years or receive fines or both upon conviction.

ACP Rahmat also urged those who witnessed the incident to reach out to the Iskandar Puteri police to assist in the investigation.

In a 28-second video, the suspect is seen shouting at the lorry driver before using his helmet to attack the man.

On a separate matter, ACP Rahmat said that the police had arrested a man in his 50s on Friday (May 12) for carrying six grams of methamphetamine.

"The suspect was arrested at Taman Bukit Indah after police found the drugs in his bag.

"He was then brought to the Iskandar Puteri police headquarters for further investigations under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952," he said, adding that the suspect also tested positive for drugs.
